Fritz Hauser (1953, Basel, Switzerland) develops solo programs for drums and percussion, which he performs worldwide. Cross-media works with architect Boa Baumann, lighting designer Brigitte Dubach, director Barbara Frey, as well as with various choreographers.

 

Compositions and concept pieces for Percussion ensembles and soloists, sound installations (a.o. Therme Vals/Switzerland, Museum for Architecture/Basel, Castel Burio/Italy, Kunsthaus Zug/Switzerland, Fondation van Gogh, Arles/France), radio plays, soundtracks to film and readings. He collaborates with improvising musicians around the world.

 

In the field of percussion music he has performed with and composed for soloists and groups such as: Steven Schick, Keiko Abe, Synergy Percussion, Speak Percussion, Michael Askill, Bob Becker, Rob Kloet, Sylwia Zytynska, Nexus, EnsembleXII, We Spoke…

 

Hauser has recorded numerous CDs as soloist as well as with various groups, and has been awarded several prizes that include the culture prize of the city of Basel 2012 and the music prize of the canton of Basel-Landschaft 1996.
